Hungary becomes the first country to honor Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto with a public statue.

Today, a statue of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto was revealed in Budapest, Hungary, in front of a large and passionate crowd. The purpose of the statue is to honor Satoshi Nakamoto, the founders believe his work is truly something to be remembered, the initiatives website said.

This bronze statue located in Graphisoft Park was sculpted by Gergely Rka and Tams Gilly. When carving this statue, the pair really wanted to capture the mantra of we are all Satoshi, making Satoshi’s face reflective, so when you look at the statue you are reminded that you play an equally important role in Bitcoin as Satoshi. and everyone is doing it. It’s also because Satoshi Nakamoto’s gender, height, weight, and age are unknown, making it impossible to sculpt a face that is descriptive of who Satoshi was.

I love the way this faceless statue plays out in Elizabeth Warrens’ comments last July, calling the Bitcoiners a bunch of faceless and faceless super-coders.
