I see bitcoin as an amazing instrument. The more you get into it, the more you get out of it. The more you pour your dreams into it, the more your dreams come true. The canvas is wide open, but a true masterpiece requires an extraordinary artist to create it. Bitcoin is money fit for kings, but you have to behave like a king to get king-like results.

I am very worried about the incompetent guards who decide on the distribution of the money. Perhaps they are at the head of a foundation which claims to support living artists. Do they know the high quality when they see it? Do they know how much someone really needs? Are they ready to give so much when they find out? Will they close their purses when they find out that someone’s political views are different from theirs?

That’s why bitcoin excites me like nothing else: you don’t have to depend on these guardians anymore! The game opens and there are now thousands of players on the field when there used to be only two or three. This person with an extraordinary vision no longer has to depend on an extraordinary funding opportunity. There is an explosion of new opportunities, whether it’s to fund yourself or to act as a private patron and decide you want to help fund others. You can bet on yourself like never before. Outsiders can make themselves heard.

Do you know exactly what you can do? Do you have a big idea that only a small handful of potential sponsors would appreciate or understand? Well, with bitcoin, and especially when we’re on a bitcoin standard, the likelihood increases dramatically that that rare person with a deep understanding of your potential will have the resources to help you.

I can give you some personal examples, because from 2018-2019, I did my best as a patron. Bitcoin has given me the opportunity to help living artists in ways I never could have dreamed of in previous years. Two opportunities in particular popped up out of the blue: one to send CA $ 5,000 to author Alexander Dawkins to help fund the publication of “Understanding Northwest Coast Indigenous Jewelry,” and another to send 10,000 CA $ to Haida artist Lyle Campbell to purchase a 40-foot red cedar log that would be used to carve a public totem pole in memory of his late mother. These are two of my favorite projects I’ve ever been involved in, and without bitcoin as a long-term foundation none would have been possible.

My dream is that the neglected genius no longer suffers, or at least as little humanly as possible. May the Rare Artist and Rare Patron be empowered to make even more idiosyncratic choices as they are on a bitcoin standard. Eccentricity and creative genius are becoming the focus and a matter of pride and joy at a time when everyone can afford the basic necessities because money is no longer broken. That if you think you have something important to say, you have as many opportunities as you want to try to make a difference. And that we no longer have to be silent because there was not enough money for everyone.

You are at the frontiers of what bitcoin is capable of. You decide – your ambitions, your dreams, your vision.
