The mayor of Cool Valley, Missouri, said he had secured enough funds to drop Bitcoin (BTC) in every household in his jurisdiction.
In a new interview with Bitcoin Magazine Podcast, Mayor Jayson Stewart said he will give each of his 1,500 voters for $ 1,000 worth of Bitcoin as a way to fight financial inequality.
It has given me hope and optimism that we can overcome some of the worst parts of the system we were born into and create a future exactly as we wish.
There is a certain level of hope and optimism that I get from Bitcoin.
Stewart originally planned to distribute $ 500 in BTC per beneficiary, but after word of his plan quickly spread, he was able to secure donations from outside Missouri to double the amount.
Hailing Bitcoin as fundamentally American, the mayor of Cool Valley said he wouldn’t be surprised to see the best crypto continue to thrive in the United States.
[BTC] is the most American thing. Our government is built on liberty and personal liberty, and rights and self-sovereignty, and all the things that Bitcoin really is. I think it’s a natural marriage that Bitcoin in America will thrive on.
According to Stewart, residents of Cool Valley should expect their Bitcoin to be delivered by the end of the year.
