Metaplex Studios recently announced that it has appointed Adam Jeffries as CEO of a new organization formed to help integrate multiple artists on its NFT platform.
The Solana-powered on-chain protocol for NFT minting and auctioning has chosen Jeffries to lead the charge in advancing the features of the tools that will allow creators to easily manage their NFT businesses.
Coin Rivet spoke to Jeffries, who gave us a deeper insight into the studio’s work.
In particular, he stressed that considering NFTs as a mere investment vehicle was a drastic oversimplification of their utility value.
“In reality, this is arguably the most accessible technology for bringing non-crypto users into space – or the metaverse,” he said.
“As an investment asset, they can be viewed both as a short-term method of trading or as a long-term holding.
“For a short-term trade, the analogy would be to deliver value at a specific time, like concert tickets with speculation occurring around the event.”
He added that adoption and acceptance are increasing daily as more users understand the real potential of NFTs, especially around community and potential for interaction.
Jeffries noted that NFTs provided the unique opportunity to allow users and creators to connect through ownership, which is extremely important when it comes to interactions between the two.
“There is now a common ground – an NFT – that connects the creator and the user,” he said.
“NFTs also give creators a more autonomous role in content revenue and rights, while creating increasing demand from users as labor is limited in quantity.”
With NFTs, anyone can create their own marketplace
What makes the Metaplex protocol unique, says Jeffries, is that it is fully decentralized and works hard to create new ways for users to interact with its open source code.
The story continues
“Metaplex Studios will offer everyone the ability to create and fully customize their own marketplaces,” he added.
“It would be done in a fully decentralized fashion and give complete control over the centralized exchanges available today.
“This allows a user to easily launch a storefront with basic functionality such as typing and selling an NFT or creating a secondary market where they can have a user-to-user resale marketplace.”
Jeffries also added that Metaplex currently has several community projects under construction on its platform, such as Degen Ape Academy, Audius, Aurory, Contrastive, Phantom Wallet and FTX.
Jeffries joins a new board of strategic advisors which includes Audius, Meltem Demirors Chief Strategy Officer at Coinshares, Alex Yamashita, Mark Streeter and Rolf Hoefer, Chris Kalani Chief Product Officer of Phantom, Dylan Macalinao co-founder of Saber Labs and Steve Irby co – founder of Street Dreams Magazine.
