Following China’s recent crackdown on crypto-related activities, the value of Bitcoin, among other cryptocurrencies, has seen significant swings over the past week. Cryptocurrency prices rose over the weekend, however, after US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell reasserted to the crypto industry that the central bank has no plans to ban digital assets.

Ether also saw a weak opening on Monday. Recording a 2.16% drop, the Ethereum blockchain-based cryptocurrency is currently trading at Rs. 2,59,219 (around $ 3,496), according to cryptocurrency price tracker Gadgets 360.

On Friday October 1, the altcoin had opened with another low as it traded at around Rs. 2,36,255 (around $ 3,179). It should be noted, however, that Ether managed to recover its overall value which increased by almost $ 300 (around Rs. 22,238) over the weekend.

Cardano, Tether, Ripple, and Polkadot, among other cryptocurrencies, also opened with minor drops in value.

Only a handful of cryptocurrencies opened this new week with tiny gains. These include EOS, Shiba Inu, Neo, and Bitcoin SV.

Between China criminalizing crypto activity and regions like El Salvador, Miami, the American entrenchment for cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin, the crypto market remained volatile in September.

However, more and more countries are sparking discussions about the benefits of allowing these unregulated and decentralized crypto-assets to operate.

For example, the US Federal Reserve has been known to consider creating a digital dollar, a report from FullyCrypto.com recently said.

Last week, as Tesla CEO Elon Musk said these indestructible cryptocurrencies are here to say it, venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya said Bitcoin has essentially replaced gold in modern times.
