Although we mainly talk about the Bitcoin network on the “Bitcoin Magazine Podcast,” developments on other networks can sometimes help push Bitcoin and self-rule to more people.
In this episode, we were joined by two people leading the way in this conversation: Diego Gutierrez-Zaldivar, co-founder of RSK Labs, and Bruno Calmels, CTO of Defiant Wallet, an RSK-enabled wallet. The RSK blockchain enables DeFi and smart contracts using Bitcoin, and Defiant Wallet integrates both RSK and Bitcoin into a single wallet.
Get to know Gutierrez-Zaldivar and Calmels as they discuss their respective assignments at RSK and Defiant, explaining how their jobs overlap. Throughout this conversation, we’ve spent time discussing El Salvador, unboxing the politicization of Bitcoin and the implications of these developments.
“Some parts of the Spanish-speaking world have particular characteristics that make them more prone to adopting crypto,” Calmels said.
Have you ever wondered what are the main differences between the different types of money? Gutierrez-Zaldivar argued for stablecoins, explaining how short-term money should be less volatile, while long-term can handle more ups and downs. Our extensive conversation also focused on how Defiant is ensuring it is an easy-to-use platform, the state of crypto in the Spanish-speaking world, and how crypto is promoted in 2021.
“Everything we do brings us closer to a sovereign world where people have control over their data and their value,” said Gutierrez-Zaldivar.
