CEO of investment giant BlackRock says he is “researching blockchain and crypto”

During a segment on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” BlackRock CEO Larry Fink discussed cryptocurrencies and investing in global markets on Wednesday, October 13.

As the industry continues to grow in size and breadth, as evidenced by the growing number of financial services companies establishing and developing crypto platforms, Andrew Ross Sorkin was intrigued as to whether the CEO had changed his position.

When asked if he had changed his mind about providing cryptocurrency goods or other access to his investors, he said that he and his team “are researching blockchain technology and the concept of crypto “.

Additionally, following the ongoing Bitcoin (BTC) debate due to remarks made by Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, Fink was pressured into whether he agreed with Dimon that Bitcoin is worthless or if he thinks there is value in the merchandise, he said, “probably more in the Jamie Dimon camp.”

Fink doesn’t know if Bitcoin will go to $ 80,000 or $ 0

Nonetheless, Larry Fink said he couldn’t predict whether Bitcoin will cost $ 80,000 or zero; he sees huge possibilities for a government controlled “digital dollar”, Bitcoin or whatever.

Additionally, Fink commented:

“I believe there is a huge role for a digital currency, and it’s going to help consumers around the world, whether it’s Bitcoin or whatever, plus an official government digital currency, like a digital dollar.”

He added:

“It’s fantastic to see how people have become so fascinated that they are interested in it, if it’s going to be okay, in the long run we’ll see. Like I said, I see huge opportunities in a blockchain linked digital currency.

Ultimately, Fink sees huge opportunities in the space, and this is where he sees the market ultimately ending, with big winners and big losers along the way.
