Walmart enters crypto world 200 Bitcoin ATMs with plans to add more

The cryptocurrency space has hosted many top companies in the past few months, and Walmart has now joined the list.

Walmart partners with Coinstar and CoinMe

Walmart, the largest retailer in the United States, has partnered with coin machine company Coinstar and cryptocurrency exchange CoinMe as it enters the cryptocurrency space. The retailer has installed 200 Bitcoin ATMs at its various locations across the United States.

According to a Bloomberg report, installing Bitcoin ATMs in Walmart stores will allow its customers to purchase bitcoin at its various locations across the United States. Walmart intends to expand into more than 8,000 locations across the United States in the coming months.

In an interview with Bloomberg, BitOoda Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Research, Sam Doctor, said that while Bitcoin ATMs are already popular in the United States, Walmart wants to make them accessible to more people.

He said: “Walmart is expanding access to Bitcoin to more people, however, and giving it additional legitimacy among skeptics, if they deploy it beyond an initial pilot.” Data obtained from Coin ATM Radar showed that there are currently over 25,000 Bitcoin ATMs at gas stations and grocery stores across the United States. Coinstar currently operates more than 4,400 kiosks that support Bitcoin purchases in 33 states across the country.

Bitcoin cools off after recent historic high

Bitcoin hit a new all-time high above $ 67,000 on Tuesday. The cryptocurrency has rallied since the start of the month and topped the $ 67,000 level 48 hours ago. However, BTC has since cooled off after the rally.
