Goldman Sachs traders join this crypto prime broker

Goldman Sachs traders join Genesis, the leading digital brokerage firm.

Genesis has quietly grown globally and at least two London traders have chosen to join us.

Ashley Senior, former vice president of options sales in hedge funds and real money accounts, joined Genesis in September as vice president in London. Konrad Laesser, former Executive Director of Goldman Sachs in London, has joined Genesis as Head of Institutional Sales EMEA. Laesser left Goldman earlier this year and spent some time working for a Brazilian brokerage before joining Genesis.

As hedge funds enter crypto trading, crypto brokerage becomes a thing. Coinbase has also set up a crypto brokerage team in London and has sought staff from investment bank associates.

Goldman Sachs is not the only source of Genesis staff. In the past six months, she has also hired Francois Lamy from the London Stock Exchange as New York-based Director of Strategy and Product Innovation; Sean Lynch of BAML as a trader based in London; and Leroy Lin of JPMorgan in Singapore. Further hires are likely.

Chris Perkins, the former global co-head of Citi’s Futures, Clearing and FX Brokerage (who went to Coinfund) told us last week that the banks are teeming with crypto evangelists. “There are a lot of true crypto believers sitting in the banks right now. They put up with their day job to come home at night and on weekends to play the crypto space,” Perkins told us.
