Cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase and Crypto.com are now two of the most downloaded apps for Apple’s App Store in the United States, topping the rankings in first and third place respectively.
According to Apple’s App Store Top Charts list, Coinbase has regained its position as the most popular app in the United States ahead of TikTok. However, Crypto.com’s app increased the number of downloads on Thursday to overtake YouTube and Instagram, dropping from fifth to third in a matter of hours. Robinhood’s app, which previously held top ten positions, is at number 48 under Walmart.
Listed for the first time on the App Store in 2014, Coinbase was the most popular download in the United States in 2017 and in May 2021. Notably, the description of the trading app now lists Shiba Inu (SHIB) after Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) – The price of the dog-themed token has increased significantly over the past year, creating new crypto billionaires.
The growing popularity of Crypto.com could be the result of the publication by the exchange of an ad campaign featuring actor Matt Damon. The ‘fortune favors the brave’ ad, which went live early Thursday, aims to reach a global audience of potential crypto users and investors. According to data from the analysis site SensorTower, the stock market app recorded around 600,000 downloads in September.

The number of downloads for a company’s app can be an indicator of market interest. Facebook, currently under surveillance following the publication of documents showing the company was not doing what it claimed in suppressing hate speech and messages encouraging violence, is now listed on Snapchat as the 8th most popular iOS app in the United States.
