Over $ 160,000 in cryptocurrency missing from account: Pepper Pike Police Blotter

A resident reported on the morning of October 28 that more than $ 160,000 of an estimated value had been stolen from her cryptocurrency account. No further details were available at the start of the investigation, with officers still completing the initial statement.

Domestic violence (crime), warrant issued: Interstate 271

Police were still looking for a Cleveland Heights man, 58, after receiving an Oct. 22 report of a disoriented woman walking along the freeway. Police learned that she had been the victim of domestic violence, having been forced out of a slow-moving car in this most recent incident.

The suspect already had a warrant out of Cleveland Heights for an earlier alleged altercation involving the same woman, also 58.

She refused ambulance transport for further medical treatment.

Along with other previous convictions against the man, the current charge has been elevated to a felony.

Suspicion, sexual imposition: Orange high school campus

Details are limited on a report from an Orange High School student who reported around 9:30 p.m. on October 22 that she was inappropriately touched while on campus, located in Pepper Pike. She was attending a reception or school sanctioned event at the time. The investigation was continuing.

Property found, departmental information: Kersdale Road

A resident trimming bushes in his yard on October 21 found open and mostly empty Amazon packaging with addresses from a neighborhood elsewhere in the city.

Only a few food items such as crackers were left in the discarded packaging. Police were investigating further to determine if and when the items were reported stolen from the porches.

Traffic Alteration: Cedar Road, I-271

A Maple Heights woman reported a road rage incident along the highway on October 19, in which another northbound driver threw a water bottle at her Lincoln SUV.

The other driver, contacted later and identified as a man from Thompson Township, denied throwing anything but told police there were water bottles in the bed of his truck and that one of them could have taken off and hit his car, which was not damaged.

Property damage: Lander Road, Pepperwood Lane

A Pepperwood resident reported that she was driving past a wooded area on Lander Road near her home around 3 p.m. on October 19 when the rear window of her Subaru shattered.

She was not hurt. No projectiles were found inside the car, and a subsequent police check of the area revealed no evidence of what could have shattered the window.

Common assault, criminal damage: Chagrin Boulevard

A 14-year-old boy faces multiple charges in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court after being charged with assaulting another client at New Directions residential drug treatment center around 8:30 p.m. on October 17.

He had been involved in another recent brawl at the facility, with another boy. This time, he then went out, picked up stones and smashed several windows in the building.

Suspicion: Chagrin Boulevard

The Orange Schools Resource Manager, on assignment from Pepper Pike, was contacted by the district after a teacher at Moreland Hills Elementary School found an inappropriate photo on the camera of a cell phone from a pupil around October 20.

The SRO issued a preliminary ruling that no crime had been committed by the 8-year-old boy, with no further information available.

Material damage: Louis Drive

In response to an Oct. 26 report of a residential power line on fire in someone’s yard, police and firefighters learned that someone was working on the property using a patch. Kubota machinery tangled in power lines, ignited briefly. Electricity company teams were also called to the scene.

Neighborhood problem: Chemin Belcourt

A resident reported on October 22 that a neighbor exhibited threatening behavior by knocking her over as she was leaving her home recently.

The suspect later told police that the bird was given as an immediate reaction when the neighbor rushed into the driveway with her car. Neither neighbor expected the situation to escalate from there.
