NYDIG acquires Bitcoin Bottlepay payment app

NYDIG, a bitcoin-focused technology and financial services provider, announced Monday, November 1, its acquisition of the real-time bitcoin payment app Bottlepay for an undisclosed amount after previously investing in the company during its cycle of start-up.

Bottlepay used Bitcoin’s Lightning Network to enable the growth of global micropayments via bitcoin, pounds, euros, and other currencies across Europe and the UK without exorbitant fees, finding an answer to what founder Pete Cheyne called “finance’s biggest unresolved problem”.

“When we set out to build Bottlepay, we wanted to unlock the financial infrastructure of the future,” Cheyne said in the company’s announcement. “We believe we’ve done it in a way that will revolutionize the payments industry. and make it fairer for everyone, from small businesses and creators to end consumers.

NYDIG will integrate the infrastructure of the Lightning Network into its full-stack Bitcoin platform.
