“Go to college. You will never be successful if you don’t go to college. As I’m sure many others have heard, I’ve heard this or variations hundreds of times . In a world where everyone is encouraged to attend secondary school, great importance is placed on diplomas and whether people have them or not. But the Bitcoin industry is different. The impact of its work in space is judged entirely by the value you provide. If you can submit a work package worthy of appreciation then you will have a place in this industry regardless of your previous credentials. I have discussed this lovely idea and more with our own Namcios, so be sure to check out the podcast and written interview below.
How did you first find out about Bitcoin?
In 2014, my brother used to joke that bitcoin would become the world’s reserve currency. He had libertarian vibes then and discovered BTC in such groups, but he didn’t really study it. So even he didn’t take himself seriously –– and of course neither did I. Sometimes I stop and think about how much I wish we had studied Bitcoin back then. I also heard about Bitcoin a few times afterwards, but didn’t really learn about it until 2020.
Seeing the whole impression of money in the form of QE and low interest rates prompted me to seek an economics background to try and make sense of it all, and I naturally landed on Bitcoin. It was mind-boggling to realize what Bitcoin really was, instead of what the mainstream media described as being. After learning about the economics of Bitcoin, I just couldn’t get enough – I wanted to learn more about the technology and how all of its promises were possible. I downloaded stuff and coded stuff myself. As a result, I fell in love with Bitcoin.
What is the main “life lesson” you learned from your switch to bitcoin?
Preferably low time, no doubt. I’ve always been that guy who gets his paycheck and spends it all that month. I had never been able to save, subconsciously. But after understanding Bitcoin, I realized how much such a long-term preference mindset is culturally driven, both due to the flaws inherent in the debt-based fiat money system and the debt-based agenda. big brands and social media. It dawned on me then that while I didn’t have the discipline to save, what was missing most were the incentives to do so. Saving in fiat money is counterintuitive – why would you save in money that depreciates over time? So overall it made sense to be that way, to spend it all as soon as that paycheck hit my checking account.
But after digging deeper into Bitcoin, understanding time preference and savings over spending became obvious. Why would I spend more than what is really needed now if I can save money and ensure a better life for myself and my family in the future? This simple realization completely changed my priorities in life, and today I understand much better what I need to do to ensure my future well-being. Plus, this recognition pushed me to realize the power of delayed gratification. Ultimately, the question is: what can I do each day to prepare for a better future?
What is your experience using Bitcoin’s digital network to gain international employment in the industry?
It was the wildest accomplishment of my life. From a simple Twitter DM (lots of love, CK), was born the opportunity to work with what excites me the most, Bitcoin. The team at Bitcoin Magazine and BTC Inc. as a whole are amazing, and I am honored to be one of those scammers who work to advance high quality Bitcoin information in the form of media coverage, education, and outreach. cultural articles. Our reach is growing day by day with all the new products and team members and I’m really happy to be a part of it.
What are you looking forward to the most in the Bitcoin space?
Currently, Taproot / Schnorr. I really want to see how it will be deployed, what adoption will look like, and all the possibilities and use cases that it can unlock. I’m still studying all of this and trying to get the full picture, but I feel like some things won’t become evident until after it’s deployed. The fact that Schnorr was patented until 2008, the year of the Bitcoin Whitepaper, and we’re adding it now is comical and interesting to me. I’m excited about the stronger assurances and signing possibilities – adaptive signatures, aggregation of cross-entry signatures, etc. expenses appear to be similar on the channel. Lightning is also likely to see some improvements, and all of that put together makes me very pumped. (And also shows me that I have homework to do and plenty more to study.)
Price forecast for the end of 2021, and the end of 2030?
This one is tough because I don’t believe the dollar has a value right now – so to me it’s already an outdated dollar valuation. The world is just lagging behind to realize it. But if I have to give it a dollar price, I would say $ 300,000 by the end of the year and $ 10 million by 2030. In truth, I think this decade is the last in which people will care about the dollar price. By 2030, the dollar will have lost so much value that bitcoin will no longer have its fair value. Think high.
$ 2 million per BTC? Okay, it could be, but still, what will that $ 2 million be worth in the first place? Nothing. So $ 5 million? Yeah, more like that. $ 10 million? Maybe also. It doesn’t make any difference. The denominator will be almost zero, so BTC might as well go to infinity – and I honestly think that’s where it’s heading. This decade is the turning point, no one will want dollars after their faces are melted by the appreciation in the price of bitcoin. MicroStrategy will demonstrate how stupid all other companies are right now and corporate FOMO will follow. And the same will happen at the nation-state level with El Salvador’s pioneering initiative. We just have to keep working on the resilience and anti-fragility of the network, and the rest will happen on its own.
