$ 25 million Bitcoin salary eludes investor Rob Arnott

(Bloomberg) – When Rob Arnott first learned about Bitcoin in 2013, he found it fascinating – but not enough to bet much on it.

As a libertarian, I thought, this will give central bankers a so-called run for their money. It’ll be fun to watch, ”said Arnott, Founder and Chairman of Research Affiliates and one of the most well-known fundamental investors, in Bloomberg News’ latest“ What Goes Up ”podcast.

He debated the $ 100,000 investment in the then nascent cryptocurrency, which at the time was trading around $ 200. “I said, no, I don’t buy things that I don’t understand. I’m just going to buy a Bitcoin, ”he recalled. “Today, if I bought the $ 100,000, it would be worth about $ 25 million.”

Emerging from the ashes of the financial crisis, Bitcoin was created as a bypass around banks and government agencies mired in Wall Street’s biggest calamity in decades. At first, it was slow to break through, blurred by a series of scandals. But it has slowly grown into one of the best performing assets of the past decade. Its run since its inception just over 10 years ago has been so heavy that it has left skeptics and fans alike in dismay. It has increased by about 340% in the past year alone.

The world’s largest digital asset hit a new record high on Tuesday, hitting $ 68,513 as investors seek hedges against inflation. The total value of digital tokens has reached around $ 3.1 trillion, by some metrics.
