We launched Paradigm in 2018 with two strong beliefs.

First, despite being in the middle of a “winter”, crypto was poised to be one of the most significant technical and economic changes over the next few decades, with the potential to change fundamentally. money, the financial system (DeFi) and the Internet. more broadly (Web3).

Second, that the best way for us to contribute to this revolution was to create an investment company specifically suited to crypto, so that we can be the best possible partner for crypto entrepreneurs and communities. We have immersed ourselves in the frontier of protocol research and Web3 culture. And we’ve assembled a team of experts in research, engineering, security, talent, communications and marketing, law and policy, and anything crypto entrepreneurs could need to advance their projects.

Our belief in these beliefs has only grown stronger over the past three years, and we are pleased to announce a new $ 2.5 billion venture capital fund to continue investing in the next generation of companies. and cryptographic protocols. This new fund will invest alongside our existing flagship fund in all stages and all geographic areas.

This new fund and its size reflect the fact that crypto is the most exciting frontier in technology. Over the past decade, crypto has come a long way. But cryptocurrencies still belong to less than ten percent of the world’s population. Decentralized financial systems have grown to hold over $ 100 billion in cumulative assets, but still represent a small drop in the context of the traditional financial system. Web3 applications have grown to reach tens of millions of users, but are still a long way from the billions of Web2 users. The journey has only just begun and the potential of crypto has never been clearer.

Our mission at Paradigm remains unchanged: to be the oldest and most valuable partner of crypto entrepreneurs and communities. We will continue to incubate ideas. We will continue to invest from the early stages when there is only a glimmer of thought. We will also work in partnership with more advanced category leaders and support companies at every intermediate step.
