More than a quarter of Australian crypto users surveyed in October plan to use digital assets as part of their Christmas gifts this holiday season.

The survey by crypto wallet and services provider Crypto.com interviewed 2,020 Australians aged 18 to 59. Of those who have used crypto in the past 12 months, 26% responded that they would consider gifting some for Christmas or buying crypto-related gifts.

More than half, or 53% of those considering buying crypto gifts, said they would consider buying crypto assets, like Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH) for loved ones this Christmas.

The survey also found that crypto products like themed socks or hoodies could be popular giveaways this holiday season, as 43% of those considering buying crypto-centric giveaways said that they were looking for these items.

About 42% said they were considering buying coin vouchers and 35% were considering buying crypto books. About a third of those polled said they were considering offering non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Recent high school graduate Justin El-Sheikh, 18, from Melbourne, plans to give the gift of crypto this year. He told Cointelegraph that he plans to set up his friends with a wallet and a small amount of Bitcoin to get them started.

“Lots of my friends hear about crypto and say they want to get involved but don’t know where to start. It’s a fun and thoughtful gift idea, ”he said.

Karl Mohan, Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at Crypto.com, said: “Australians are clearly very keen to embrace cryptocurrencies and build their use into daily spending,” before adding that Australians “are gradually increasing their use of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
