Staples Center will soon be known as Crypto.com Arena, Crypto announced on Tuesday. The name change will take place on December 25 and is part of a 20-year agreement that is considered the largest site naming rights deal in U.S. history to date, sources told The Athletic.

Since its first opening in 1999, the venue has hosted the Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Sparks. The Lakers have hung six championship banners inside Staples Center since 1999. The Kings have won two Stanley Cup titles during that time. The Sparks won two back-to-back WNBA championships in 2001 and 2002 and won their third WNBA championship in 2016.

“It will be weird,” said Clippers forward Paul George. The Clippers will move to the Intuit Dome for the 2024-25 season. “I grew up (with) it being Staples and being the place to play and be… it’s the same place but it’s kind of like taking the story out here and calling it something else.

In addition to sporting events, more than 76 million people have attended concerts, awards shows and other large-scale events during the 22-year history of the arena. His attendance record was set on January 25, 2009, for a bout between WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley with a crowd of 20,820.
