For the age-defying Lakers trying to stay alive, and those eternal NBA graveyard dwellers called the Clippers, it seems entirely appropriate that your daily coverage of the two local teams is treating us to Tales from the Crypt. .

Where is the crypt classified? The only thing more unnecessary than this article is the amount of money wasted by complacent and overpaid business leaders. How inferior would their products and services be if that money was redirected to these companies and employees? It’s not as if these arenas and grounds aren’t already making billions from tickets, beer, and licensing of team products.

Does that mean the new Krypto-nite Arena will force the Lakers and Clippers to wear only green and serve only Lime Gatorade? Are people still not coming? I guess Clark Kent is giving up his season tickets.

I can’t say I’m happy with the Staples Center which will soon be known as Crypto.com. I was hoping for the Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson Arena.

In all fairness, AEG is awesome. They will receive $ 700 million over the next 20 years (assuming Crypto.com lasts that long) instead of the $ 100 million they received from Staples in the first 20 years. The outcry over the name change is quite funny. We do not care? We all know most of us, if not all, will always call it Staples Center or Staples. Has anyone EVER used the Great Western Forum instead of the Forum alone? Does anyone refer to where the USC football team plays as United Airlines Field, or do we always call it the Coliseum?

Considering the pending name change of the Kings / Lakers / Clippers Stadium to Crypto.com Arena, can we traditionalists just call it Staple Removal Center?

I enjoyed the story about the names and nicknames of sports arenas across the country. But the list wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t include the Climate Pledge Arena, home of the Seattle Kraken, aka Krak House.

Lakers land of loss
No defense, no rebounds, no three-point shots, no free throws, no effort, no communication, No Nothing! Sorry, Lakers, see you soon for the 7v8 game. Maybe !!

As someone who enjoys looking into basketball game box scores, I can’t help but notice how recently traded Lakers players are doing with their new teams. While the Lakers have brought so many aging and fragile former NBA stars to the squad, they are battling losing teams across the league. The cost to the Lakers was to lose rising stars who bring in talent and enthusiasm every night. How much fun it would be to see a Laker team made up of Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell, Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Josh Hart.

Say good, Ohtani!
A colleague of mine spent time in Japan and knew about Shohei Ohtani’s exploits in Japanese baseball. The day the angels signed it, my friend pulled me aside and said, “Believe me, this guy is the real deal. »Boy, he understood correctly!

Over the past year, Americans have witnessed an unprecedented number of anti-Asian hate crimes from coast to coast to coast. With the victories of Hideki Matsuyama at the Masters, Collin Morikawa at the British Open and now Shohei Ohtani named MVP of the American League, I would like to see all enemies pursued to the fullest extent of the law. On a related note, my baseball idol, Willie Mays, was affectionately known as the Say Hey Kid in the 50s and 60s. I think that moniker now belongs to the Angels star. Say Hey, Shohei.

The Dodgers’ dilemma
Due to advanced age and likely declining performance, the Dodgers should offload Jansen, Kershaw and Scherzer and focus on sustaining / acquiring hitters.

I would love to know how it is that Julio Urias can lead the majors with 20 wins and finish with a under 3.00 ERA and collect three huge votes for fifth place in the Cy Young vote. Meanwhile, Corbin Burnes, who racked up 11 solid wins in a team that won his division, takes home the award. Absolute joke. It’s me?

UCLA vs. USC
With regret, the Dump Kelly Action Committee (est. 2019) withdraws its invitation to Ben Bolch. He was offered three weeks ago after he asked for Kelly’s dismissal. Today, he hedged his bet. Our organization will not tolerate waffles on this grill.

Do you know how to identify a college basketball program with no track record? He’s the one who hangs a banner in his arena to craft the Elite Eight and hands out fancy rings for the same feat. Fight!

Ram problem?
On the off chance that no one noticed, Kyle Shanahan owns Sean McVay. Considering that the Rams still hold a handful of mid-century first-round picks, how about if Les Sneads used a few more to trade for Shanahan? Then USC or UCLA (as the case may be) could hire their own top NFL coach at McVay.

The Rams 2021: 7-3 after 10 games in 2020. The Rams: 7-3 after 10 games.
I say it like that …

Ram’s coaches and players have obviously decided to take two weeks off in a row starting last Monday.
I have a feeling Raheem Morris’ defensive call will give 24 points in the off week.
