JRR Token Crypto Blocked By Tolkien’s Lawyers – Bitcoin – United States Dollar ($ BTC)

Lawyers representing the estate of the world famous deceased author of “Lord of the Rings” and linguist John Ronald Reuel Tolkien have filed a lawsuit against the creator of the JRR token (CRYPTO: JRR).

What happened: According to an article published on Tuesday by Law360, the Tolkien Estate has reached an agreement with Florida-based developer Matthew Jensen over JRR Token. The token was launched in August of this year and, according to blockchain data, it is only owned by 150 people. Therefore, few people will be affected by the decision.

Jensen has promised to shut down the project and remove any content that infringes the domain’s trademark rights to the JRR Tolkien name and any intellectual property from The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. As a result of the settlement, JRR Token’s Twitter account, YouTube channel and website have since been deleted.

The writer’s estate attorney, Steve Maier, said the case was a “particularly egregious case of infringement” and that he was “satisfied that it was concluded under satisfactory conditions”.

The development follows Billy Boyd – the actor who played Pippin in The Lord of the Rings – endorsing the token in a 40-second YouTube cameo on August 4.

Jensen’s attorneys said that JRR Token stands for “Journey through Risk to Reward” and that it was chosen simply because the domain “jrrcrypto.com” was not available. Still, Tolkien’s estate pointed out that the token website included images of Hobbit rings, holes, and a wizard closely resembling Gandalf.
