Okcoin has said it will devote $ 1 million to attract more women to the cryptocurrency market with the goal of reaching 50% of female cryptocurrency customers by 2025.

In doing so, the company appointed Randi Zuckerberg as an inaugural member of the brand’s advisory board. Okcoin operates a cryptocurrency exchange that allows people to use their web and mobile applications to trade cryptocurrencies and also earn money from their cryptocurrency holdings.

The idea is part of a global mission to encourage people to embrace Decentralized Finance (DeFi) by providing ease of use, convenience, and better opportunities than they can get with traditional banking services.

Zuckerberg is an entrepreneur, investor, best-selling author, award-winning producer, founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media and the Zuckerberg Institute. Leading the board, she will advise on projects including allocating contributions to organizations, integrating more women into crypto careers, sponsoring blockchain technology programs run by women, support for crypto projects run by women, etc.

“It has always been a passion for me to inspire and support women in technology, investment and leadership, and I look forward to continuing to do so as a member of the advisory board of the brand of Okcoin, ”Zuckerberg said in a statement. “Cryptocurrency has enormous potential to make tremendous strides in creating a more equitable system, and it is an honor to join Okcoin’s mission to create a more inclusive future of finance.”

From Okcoin’s perspective, crypto is inclusive by design – decentralized, unlicensed currency not only challenges geographic boundaries, but democratizes the possibility of creating wealth regardless of geography, gender, or any other factor.

While many women have progressed in the industry and become widely respected leaders, it remains largely male dominated. According to recent surveys, twice as many men as women invest in cryptocurrency. This cryptocurrency investment gap is also larger than the gender gap in more traditional investments such as individual stocks, mutual funds, real estate, and bonds.

Okcoin said he is looking to change this dynamic through initiatives that will make the crypto market more accessible to women and others currently on the fringes of the mainstream financial system.

With the goal of expanding access to the wealth-building benefits of cryptocurrency, Okcoin also plans to grow its branded advisory board with additional members dedicated to promoting fairness and inclusiveness.

“Historically, women and other marginalized groups have been excluded from the traditional financial system. Cryptocurrency is upsetting this norm thanks to the wealth creation opportunities created by decentralized finance, but we are still seeing lower adoption among women, ”said Hong Fang, CEO of Okcoin. “With our million dollar pledge and dedicated brand advisory board, we are committed to making the crypto industry more inclusive. “

San Francisco-based Okcoin was founded in 2013 and supports millions of customers in 190 countries.
