On December 2, Warren shared a letter she sent to CEO of New York bitcoin mining company Greenidge Generation Holdings, Jeff Kirt, with the Bloomberg news release. “Given the extraordinarily high energy consumption and carbon emissions associated with mining bitcoin, the mining operations of Greenidge and other factories raise concerns about their impacts on the global environment, on ecosystems. premises and on consumers’ electricity costs, ”explains Warren’s letter. Bitcoin miner Greenidge Generation has repeatedly claimed that the company uses green solutions to mine bitcoin (BTC). Greenidge is operated by Atlas Holdings, and the company’s website explains that the company purchases carbon offset credits. A number of other bitcoin mining operations also take advantage of carbon credit solutions and renewable energy solutions.
