Which countries are the best for crypto mining?

[ad_1]

Bitcoin’s global hash rate was historically dominated by China until September 2021, when Chinese regulators issued a blanket ban on all crypto mining and trading operations.

The biggest benefactor of this was the United States.

During a recent podcast from famous crypto investor and advocate Anthony Pompliano, Compass Mining CEO – Whit Gibbs – confirmed that the United States is actively in Bitcoin mining.

“When it comes to mining, when you talk about what Bitcoin is, whether it’s a store of value, it’s a medium of exchange,” he said.

“It’s the future financial instrument on which a lot, a lot of things are going to be built.

“Nations should be absolutely foolish not to be exposed to the underlying infrastructure that supports it.”

Some US states that prove attractive to Bitcoin miners include Washington – a Mecca for hydroelectric mining farms, while Texas’ share of renewables grows over time, with 20% of its electricity coming from the wind. from 2019.

However, not all countries are moving towards renewable destinations.

As for Central Asia, Russia recently proposed to legalize cryptocurrency mining while Belarusian President Lukashenko claimed the country had enough power to support the nation’s Bitcoin mining.

Kazakhstan is just behind the United States in terms of share of the global Bitcoin mining market, with 18.1% of all crypto operations.

It is home to coal mines which provide cheap and abundant energy, but also sufficient carbon dioxide emissions.

Iran, meanwhile, has decided to bypass international sanctions through Bitcoin mining, offering job opportunities and income that can be turned into US dollars.

Yet the proliferation of illegal energy-intensive activities is causing heavy losses to the electricity sector.

Crypto mining as a way to boost the state’s economy

Gibbs also confirmed that his country, Latvia, is also mining Bitcoin but with nuclear power, and also mentioned El Salvador as the perfect example to lead the way for countries that are not at the forefront and , historically, have been affected by the current system.

The story continues

“I don’t think they are mining Bitcoin to get around sanctions,” he said.

“I believe they mine Bitcoin because they see it as the future, and they want to boost their economy, they want to grow.”

Additionally, according to Gibbs, there is a country in North Africa that is a hot spot for the United States to engage in Bitcoin mining. This is happening, he said, at the presidential level.

According to some reports, it is true that somewhere inside the North Johannesburg office building there is a crypto mine which is ranked among the most profitable in the world.

Gibbs concluded that cryptocurrency mining has definitely become a massive global enterprise, with its own economy made up of providers of mining “platforms”, developers, and the miners themselves.
