Matrix star Keanu Reeves owns crypto, skeptical of NFTs, says ‘can’t we invent Facebook metaverse’

Matrix star Keanu Reeves has revealed he owns a cryptocurrency that a friend bought him some time ago. “Yes, I have a little hodl,” he said. The famous actor also commented on non-fungible tokens (NFT) and the metaverse.

Famous Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves spoke about cryptocurrency, metaverse, digital content, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in an interview with The Verge last week.

Reeves and his co-star Carrie-Anne Moss were interviewed about the making of “The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience”, a playable tech demo built by Epic Games, and what to expect from their upcoming movie Matrix Resurrections. . The two stars also discussed how technology blurs the line between the real and the virtual.

During the interview, Reeves commented on the Metaverse and Facebook, the social media giant that recently changed its name to Meta. “Can we just not have a metaverse like the one invented by Facebook?” He said, elaborating:

The concept of the metaverse is like a lot older than that.

He was also asked, “Do you think it’s dystopian like how the original Matrix presented it all … kind of dystopia that technology was heading towards.”

Reeves replied, “Yeah,” adding, “Because it’s also content creation, it’s okay, it’s economic creation, cryptocurrency…”

The Matrix star didn’t finish answering the question when he was interrupted with a question about whether he owned any cryptocurrency. “Are any of you personally interested in cryptocurrency? He and Moss were asked. While Moss did not respond about the crypto, Reeves shared:

A friend of mine bought me some time ago.

Regarding his cryptocurrency, Reeves was further asked, “But you haven’t done anything with it?” The actor replied, “I didn’t have to.” He was then explained what hodling meant. “Yes, I have a little hodl,” he admitted.

Regarding non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Reeves was asked if he had seen the Matrix NFTs for the upcoming Matrix Resurrections movie. He admitted he hadn’t seen them and wondered if he and Moss were being paid for them.
