Additionally, Bored Apes may soon become NFTs up for grabs, and Robinhood may add crypto gift cards to the table.

This former owner of the Bored Ape Yacht Club can.

Over the weekend, an NFT collector known as Max accidentally listed his X-eyed, one-ear, metallic-looking Bored Ape monkey for 0.75 ETH instead of 75 ETH. That’s a difference of about $ 275,000.

Due to the nature of blockchain payments (and the ingenuity of the NFT buying bots that clearly watch for this type of error), an offer was offered with a gas price of 8 ETH (which is significantly higher than normal, even with a skyrocketing ETH fee) – and the offer was immediately accepted and the Bored Ape was sold for around $ 3,000 (with those $ 32,000 in gas costs, of course).

It is now listed at 85 ETH – roughly $ 321,000.

Of course, this kind of mistake has happened in crypto before (and in regular finance too, of course): remember when this crypto exchange accidentally paid $ 24 million in fees for a transaction of 100? 000 dollars? In some cases (like this case) charges or low priced items were mistakenly returned. In this case, the NFT was not.

But the most confusing part of the whole story, IMHO, is Max’s laissez-faire attitude in the face of this loss of a $ 275,000 profit. In an interview over the weekend, he said: “The industry is so new, bad things are going to happen, whether it’s your fault or it’s technology. Once you are no longer in control of the outcome, forget and move on. “

If I dropped a $ 20 bill in the sewer or accidentally spilled a $ 50 bill when I wanted to tip $ 5 of course I could forget and move on. If I accidentally lost $ 275,000, it wouldn’t be that easy …

Maybe we should take Max’s words to heart and apply them to our attitudes when something bad happens in the market? Or maybe we should dismiss them as the ravings of an incredibly wealthy NFT collector. Up to you!

Play to win with your Bored Apes? A blockchain game based on Bored Ape Yacht Club is in the works. Partnering with Animoca Brands, the monkey-themed game is slated to launch in the first half of 2022. While we don’t know much about how the game actually works, we do know that it will feature gameplay mechanics for win and that NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club owners will be able to use them in the game. According to the code found in a beta of Robinhood’s iOS app, digital gift cards could be available on the trading platform, allowing only 180 characters to write a message explaining exactly what cryptocurrency is. (I’m joking). And given that a staggering number of gift cards go unused each year, there also seems to be a smart feature: users will be able to get their crypto back if it is not claimed by the recipient.
