Dec. 14 (Reuters) – Anchorage Digital, a digital asset finance platform, said on Wednesday it had raised $ 350 million in its latest funding round led by private equity firm KKR & Co Inc (KKR.N) .

The capital raised by the company increased its valuation to $ 3 billion. Based in San Francisco, Anchorage is a regulated platform that provides both top-notch services such as custody, lending, and trading, as well as infrastructure, which businesses can use to create crypto products. -cash.

Goldman Sachs, Andreessen Horowitz, Apollo Credit Funds and Wellington Management, among other investors, also participated in the financing round, Anchorage said. Reuters confirmed their investment, which enabled them to take a stake in the digital asset company.

“We wanted to make sure that all of these big names in investing are in our corner because Anchorage is growing very strongly towards the big financial institutions,” Diogo Mónica, president and co-founder of Anchorage, told Reuters at the time. a telephone interview.

Anchorage received its banking charter from the Office of the Comptroller (OCC) in January 2021.

Monica also stressed that the funds would be used, in part, to accelerate the company’s international expansion.

“We want to continue to develop internationally, making sure not only to have our federal charter regulated … but also to obtain equivalent registrations in other countries,” he added.

Anchorage also said it plans to use the latter funding to improve its infrastructure solutions, especially for global financial companies and fintech innovators.

KKR, in a statement, said it is investing in Anchorage through its Next Generation Technology Growth Fund II, a fund dedicated to growth equity investment opportunities in the tech space. This will be the company’s first direct investment in a digital asset company, he added.

The U.S. private equity firm has also backed ParaFi Capital’s flagship fund, according to reports from Bloomberg and CoinDesk. ParaFi focuses on decentralized financial applications facilitating cryptocurrency-denominated loans outside of traditional banking.

Anchorage’s latest funding follows a previous round of funding that raised $ 80 million for the company. Its clientele has jumped 96% this year.
