1,040 Bitcoin of 2011 move for the first time in 10.5 years

On Wednesday, an address created on July 10, 2011 at 11:22 p.m. (UTC) with 500 bitcoin (BTC) transferred BTC for the first time in 10.5 years. Another wallet, created on the same day in 2011, dispersed another 500 BTCs worth over $ 23 million at the time of transfer.

Additionally, an August 12, 2011 wallet containing 40 BTC worth $ 1.8 million transferred coins for the first time in over a decade. At the time of the transfer, BTC was trading at $ 47,500 per unit, and the 2011 total of 1,040 BTC spent on Wednesday was worth over $ 49 million.

Three transactions from wallets created in 2011 moved 1,040 bitcoins (BTC) on December 29, 2021.

It can be assumed that the 1000 BTC is from the same owner that the bitcoin wallets were both created on July 10, 2011. It is possible that the 40 BTC could have been the owner because the 40 BTC wallet was created about a month older. late.

There wasn’t as much bitcoin spending in 2011 in December, on top of the previous four transactions from 2011 this month. Two coinbase rewards were spent on December 1 and 14. Ten bitcoins (BTC) from one wallet created in 2011 were transferred on December 11 and 20 BTC from another wallet created in 2011 moved on the same day.

Researchers believe exchanges might wish for old bitcoin

The bitcoin wallet that sent 500 BTC sent the funds with a ‘moderate’ privacy level or a score of 65 according to the blockchair.com privacy tool. Four issues were found while submitting as “several indicators that we were able to link similar address types involved in this transaction” including “matching addresses identified”.

Data from Bitquery.io shows that one of the transfers may have been linked to a known Coinbase address. Likewise, blockchair.com’s privacy tool gives the other 500 BTC transaction the same rating, and the Bitquery.io data from that address shows a flow of money tied to a known Coinbase address.

When the 40 BTC was transferred, Privacy was lower and had a rank of 45 according to metrics from blockchair.com. Just like the two previous BTC transfers from 2011, the outgoing shipment was tied to matching addresses.

Statistics from Bitquery.io indicate that another known Coinbase address is linked to the flow of money from the wallet. The 1,040 BTC sent on Wednesday follows similar patterns to most of the old coins transferred in 2021. Researchers at Telegram channel “GFIS” and the creator of Btcparser.com told Bitcoin.com News that the old coins could be desired by the exchanges.

“At (GFiS), we have a theory as to why some major exchanges may wish to have old bitcoins,” the researchers said. “The presence of these old bitcoins can help cleanse an entire pool of bitcoins that may already contain dark tones. And now if they mix it up with the bright white ones of 2010-2011, it will help them all get through various AML and risk analysis bots.

Amlbot.com statistics showing the risk assessment for the two old bitcoin addresses that sent the 1,000 BTC.

Statistics from amlbot.com indicate that the addresses that sent the 500 BTC had low risk ratings. The funds for the address that sent the 40 BTC came from an address that once held 31,723 BTC and emptied the last of its coin on May 11, 2012, when it sent 101 BTC.

Transaction hash data that shows the 1,000 BTC sent makes it look like the funds are from a miner, as ten addresses sent 50 BTC to the wallet and 0.05437193 BTC was paid in fees. It is not certain whether these coins were sold on the open market or even over the counter (OTC), as the owner of these old school coins could have moved them to disperse them in addresses with smaller ones. amounts of funds.
