Advertisers are expected to adopt a more optimistic tone in their ads than those of 2021 which took place in the shadow of a U.S. presidential election as well as COVID-19 restrictions.
Dan Lovinger, director of ad sales for NBC Sports, announced in September that the spots were almost sold out.
The pre-game show and Super Bowl Day inventory are also selling extremely well, he said.
What I can tell you about the Super Bowl is that it is an interesting mix of the categories you would expect with the biggest categories being automotive, drinks, entertainment, putting more fit into a larger group now when you combine the theater, which goes from obvious presence of COVID impact, to some of the streamers. So the entertainment category I would put in the top three.
As for what’s new, we talked about legalized sports betting, as well as digital wallets and cryptocurrency, a new category that has generated some interest.
Among the new advertisers will be Crypto.com, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency site.
Squarespace is a regular and Avocados of Mexico, who missed the game last year, are back.
Crypto.com is currently running an ad, Fortune Favors the Brave, featuring Oscar winner Matt Damon.
This is part of a $ 100 million advertising campaign carried out by Oscar winner (for Inception) Wally Pfister.
