Bitcoin exchange exits record strongest daily spike since September 2021

Bitcoin (BTC) investors vote with their wallets as one-day outings from major exchanges of nearly 30,000 BTC.

Data from chain analysis firm CryptoQuant shows that on January 11, 29,371 BTC left the exchange order books – the highest number since September 10.

The four-month high in cash outflows matches the short-term optimism that returned on Tuesday as BTC / USD rebounded and held levels above $ 42,000.

The pair then hit local highs of $ 43,150 before consolidating, nonetheless being a different turn of events from the widely predicted stunt towards $ 30,000.

While such a result remains a matter of debate, buyers seem comfortable entering the market above $ 40,000.

For context, even the rebound that sparked the race to historic highs at the end of September failed to generate as much buy-in from buyers as on Tuesday.

“The volumes are thin. This means that the market can easily experience huge swings up or down, ”commented Samson Mow, CEO of Blockstream:

“Since we’ve already had a big drop and everyone is buying like nothing’s wrong tomorrow, I would say the next step is up.”

CryptoQuant tracks a total of 21 exchanges for its order book data. Separate data last week focused on what one analyst described as a “crazy” imbalance between supply and demand, indicating that the bears were finally starting to tire of selling.

Buyers are emboldened

Cash buyers were previously the main cohort lacking interest in BTC at current price levels.

As Cointelegraph reported, miners continue to build up their reserves at an increasing rate this year, with long-term holders determined not to sell.

Highlighting an uptrend in the buy-to-sell ratio of Bitcoin takers, CryptoQuant contributor IT Tech revealed a similar situation unfolding in the derivatives markets.

The metric refers to the ratio of the buying and selling volumes of takers on derivative platforms. A value below 1 implies bearish sentiment, and although this is currently the case, the direction is bullish.

“If we cross 1, we should have bullish sentiment again and a chance for a price trend reversal,” IT Tech summed up in one of CryptoQuant’s “Quicktake” articles on Wednesday.
