Crypto jobs are through the roof

[ad_1]

Jobs in the cryptocurrency world nearly quintupled in 2021, even as job openings in the global U.S. labor market continued to peak.

A recent analysis from LinkedIn found that positions with the roles of “bitcoin”, “ethereum”, “blockchain” and “cryptocurrency” increased by 395% in the United States from 2020 to 2021.

Some of the more common titles included blockchain developers and engineers, LinkedIn said. And most of the job postings were for software and finance related positions. But crypto-related jobs were also found in several industries like accounting and consulting.

The growth in published crypto offerings even exceeded a 98% increase in listings in the wider tech sector.

Technicians from old companies like Google (GOOGL) – Get Alphabet Inc. Class A, Amazon (AMZN) report – Get Amazon.com, Inc., Apple (AAPL) report – Get Apple Inc. report jump ship in hopes of becoming the next big thing in crypto, The New York Times reported in December.

The cryptocurrency-related hiring spike also comes at a time when investors have also flocked to the scene.

Investors around the world invested $ 30 billion in crypto and blockchain startups in 2021, according to data from PitchBook.

Crypto market OpenSea and Chainlink, which supports more than $ 80 billion in assets linked to various smart contracts, are among the crypto startups leading this new wave of hiring.

Cryptocurrencies across the board have seen a big sell off in recent weeks, with prices for some of the most popular tokens including bitcoin, ethereum, XRP, solana and dogecoin all dropping sharply .

Separately, Americans quit their jobs in record numbers before the holidays, with a monthly record 4.5 million people resigning in November, according to recently released government data. Even a slight increase in hiring didn’t really change the near-record high rate of unfilled positions.
