Kevin O’Leary Believes Bitcoin Mining Will See a Boom in Institutional Investments in the Coming Years

Once a sovereign wealth fund decides it is going to invest in bitcoin, it will want to mine it sustainably and ethically, he said. He notes that ESG (environmental, social and governance) requirements and other compliance issues are high on the list for these investors. Apart from that, these non-financial factors are part of one’s own considerations before investing.

This is also the approach O’Leary will seek to apply when deciding how he will invest in the sector, he noted. The famed investor also revealed that he has been considering running a crypto mining operation for a long time, noting that he will likely do so within this calendar year.

On what mining companies need to do to attract investors, O’Leary says regulatory compliance is a must. Companies should also ensure that they involve local communities, with a correct and clear understanding of how part of the profits flow back to the community.

He also noted that a lot of institutional capital will flow into crypto mining over the next two years, following major existing mining companies such as Marathon Digital Holdings and Riot Blockchain.
