It lost half its value on Friday, with other cryptocurrencies in the red.
Bitcoin, the mother of all cryptocurrencies, lost almost half of its value in just a few hours.
It hit an all-time high of over $65,000 last year.
But on Friday it fell below $35,000 for the first time in months.
And it’s not just Bitcoin. Some of the biggest names in blockchain are trading in the red.
Some blame the Central Bank of Russia, which on Friday proposed banning cryptocurrency trading and mining.
A ban by China last September had a similar effect.
But a decision by the US Federal Reserve to raise interest rates was already having an effect before the Russian announcement.
What does this say about the global economy?
