Bitcoin and Ethereum hit all-time highs this week, approaching $30,000 and $2,200 respectively, nearly 50% of the highest values of the two cryptocurrencies, according to CNBC. The slow but steady decline in crypto prices over the past month has in turn triggered a chain reaction in GPU pricing as crypto mining becomes less and less feasible. Compared to last month, we are now seeing a drop in card prices of up to 11% on eBay, ahead of the latest crypto losses.
We’ve compiled a week’s worth of pricing data, starting in late December versus last week, showing a full list of average GPU prices on eBay. We only look at the latest AMD and Nvidia graphics cards, although we will update our GPU prices with the full month of data next week.

On average, the price of almost all graphics cards dropped by 5% or more, with a few GPUs even hitting double digits – the RTX 3090, RTX 3080 (10GB), and RX 6600 all dropped by 10% or more. However, GPU volume (at least on eBay) also dropped significantly for nearly all GPU models, with only the RTX 3090 and RTX 3070 Ti selling more cards last week than at the end of December.
The star of the show goes to AMD’s Radeon RX 6600, which saw the biggest price drop of 11.6% from $586.89 to just $518.66. While that doesn’t necessarily equate to a lot, it’s arguably the best deal of 2022 in our current GPU market.
For reference, the RX 6600 reasonably complements Nvidia’s RTX 3060 12GB GPU in 1080p gaming performance, only 4% slower (at least in games without ray tracing). But the RTX 3060 12GB is still $705 on eBay, giving the RX 6600 a huge head start in performance per dollar. In fact, the closest Nvidia card you can find for $520 is the RTX 2060 6GB ($520) or GTX 1660 Super ($480), which are older and slower cards than the RX 6600.
Technically, AMD’s Radeon RX 6500 XT is the cheapest current-gen GPU you can buy today, with an average price of just $375.22. However, its lackluster performance and features make it an outdated buy over the RX 6600, despite costing $143 more.
When we move on to Nvidia’s RTX 30-series products, unfortunately, there aren’t really compelling options, even after the price drops. The 3070 and 3060 series cards are only down about 5%, although the lack of mining potential will eventually control the upcoming RTX 3050 prices (fingers crossed).
The price of the RTX 3080 10GB has dropped by 11.6%, similar to the RX 6600. However, with its much higher asking price of $1595, the 11.6% price drop seems mediocre at best. Still, we’re happy to see that all of Nvidia’s graphics cards (except the RTX 3070 Ti) are getting decent price cuts overall.
There are also a few anomalies worth mentioning with eBay chart trends. The price of the RX 6900 XT has increased by 3.7% over the past month, despite consumers buying 20% fewer cards. The RTX 3090 trends are also odd given that the card saw a 10% price drop but a 7.7% sales increase. The same goes for the RTX 3070 Ti which saw a price drop of 0.5% but a noticeably higher increase in sales of 11.1%. Either way, if current cryptocurrency trends continue, combined with increased production of graphics cards thanks to diminishing shortages of ABF substrates, we can expect to see prices continue to decline.
