McDonald’s tweeted a response to Tesla’s CEO who said he would only start accepting Dogecoin if “Tesla accepts Grimacecoin”.
The post was accompanied by an image of a purple coin with Grimace’s face on it.
While several crypto coins have been minted over the past day with names similar to grimacecoin, McDonald’s has not announced any plans to launch an official coin itself.
McDonald’s response is probably a tongue-in-cheek response to Musk’s offer, but several companies have started accepting cryptocurrencies for payment. These companies include AMC, Visa, Paypal and Amazon’s Whole Foods.
This isn’t the first time Musk has publicly endorsed Dogecoin. The cryptocurrency was originally created as a meme coin and was intended as a joke. However, the coin has gained momentum and its value has gone up and down over the past year.
