Two South Korean YouTubers who robbed a fellow crypto streamer by doping them with sleeping pills and stealing $660,000 worth of tokens, have been sentenced to three years behind bars – after a disagreement over sharing profits from their behavior on social media has gotten out of control.

EDaily reported that two men, surnamed Kwon and Im, both described as 44-year-old office workers, were sentenced to three years in prison, as well as four years probation, in addition to 120 hours of labor of general interest and 40 hours of education after drugging a man named by the media for legal reasons only as A.

The trio, a branch of the Seoul Central District Court heard, had co-run a popular crypto-themed channel. It seems A was the broadcaster, and Kwon and Im likely worked behind the scenes in the production or played minor roles on the channel, with A the “face” of the channel.

The court heard that the three people “squabbled” over a variety of issues, including “profit distribution” raised by the channel last year.

When A did not agree to Kwon and Im’s demands and threatened to quit the channel, the court heard on the evening of June 27, Kwon and Lim put sleeping pills in a cup of coffee A had been drinking. When A collapsed later, the duo stole A’s cell phone, wallet, laptop, and official seal (used to verify financial transactions in South Korea).

The next day, A discovered that the duo had “used the stolen items” to transfer just under $660,000 worth of unspecified crypto-assets from A’s wallets to their own accounts.

However, Kwon and Im seem to have been hit with pangs of remorse very quickly. After A called them the next day, they proceeded to refund the YouTuber $446,000. And in an apparent effort to persuade A not to press charges, they then offered their former colleague an additional $330,000.

The presiding judge said this apparent onslaught of regret was grounds for leniency, but said their actions were nevertheless “condemned in light of the nature of their actions” as well as “the magnitude of their gains”.____Read more more: – Crypto Security in 2022: Prepare for more DeFi hacks, exchange outages and Noob errors – Crypto-based money laundering is still on the rise, DeFi is becoming a bigger role
