Crypto pick rate spikes in Apex Legends ahead of long-awaited buff

Apex Legends fans showed Crypto some love ahead of his long-awaited buff in Season 12, as his pick rate recently increased.

Despite performing strongly after his introduction in Season 3, Crypto slowly sank to the bottom of the popularity charts when it comes to usage rate in Apex Legends.

The Security Expert’s drone can be a powerful tool on the battlefield, but since it has to be operated manually, it can cause problems. Not everyone wants to sit in a corner while their teammates engage in a shorthanded fight.

That will change in Season 12: Defiance, however, as Crypto will finally get his long-awaited buff – allowing him to use drone abilities on the fly. And, it looks like gamers are pretty excited for it already.

For a while, Crypto competed with Rampart for the bottom slot when it comes to usage rate in Apex games, not being used much in casual or ranked games.

However, according to stats from ApexLegendsStatus, Crypto’s pick rate has recently increased by almost 14% and is regularly used in Gold 4 skill tier lobbies, similar to more powerful legends like Ash, Bloodhound, Bangalore, and Octane.

Despite the huge increase in usage, Crypto still ranks as the second most used Legend overall. However, that’s because it’s pretty useless for a while.

With the buff coming in Season 12 looking like a pretty decent boost, it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see Crypto climb higher in the usage charts.

It still has a long way to go before it becomes a staple of every game and affects the meta much like an Octane, but Crypto Mains finally has something to cry about after a long time.
