Twitter quietly adds BTC and ETH price indices to search function

Twitter has added a new encryption feature that allows Twitter users to search the price of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) simply by typing Bitcoin or Ethereum in the search tab.

The Elon Musk-led social media platform did not announce the new feature to the public. However, the Documenting Bitcoin account was one of the first to highlight the update and shared a screenshot of the new price index feature with its 853,700 Twitter followers on December 21.

When searching for crypto token names on Twitter, the price of Ether also appears, but it seems that BTC and ETH are the only two price charts that appear on the Twitter search tab. Other top cryptocurrencies, including Musks’ beloved Dogecoin (DOGE), haven’t made a difference so far.

Cointelegraph also found that entering $Ethereum, Ethereum price, and ETH price also brings up the price chart, with equivalent searches also working for Bitcoin.

The price charts also include a View on Robinhood link you can click on in the lower left corner, suggesting that the retail platform has partnered with Twitter for this integration.

There, users are taken to the Robinhoods price chart for ETH, which provides an additional link below indicating Sign up to buy Ethereum. The same links are also provided for Bitcoin.

However, no partnership details were disclosed between Twitter and Robinhood.

Twitter’s price chart integration can arguably lead to more traffic to Robinhood, as #Bitcoin alone is tweeted around 120,000 times per day, according to data from BitInfoCharts.

This figure would likely be much higher if alternative tweet tags such as Bitcoin, $Bitcoin, BTC, and $BTC were included in the figure.

#Ethereum, on the other hand, is around 25,000.
