Free Talk Live Co-Host Ian Freeman Found Guilty in Federal Crypto Trial – Bitcoin News

After nearly two years, after the US federal government accused the Crypto Six of transmitting unlicensed money, the case seems to be coming to an end. According to multiple reports, Keene resident and libertarian activist Ian Freeman, the latest member of the Crypto Six case to stand trial, has been found guilty on all counts, including transmitting unlicensed money, laundering money and tax evasion. Freeman faces eight years in prison but was not taken into custody Thursday afternoon (ET). Reports say he is due to appear for sentencing on April 14, 2023 or appeal the verdict.

Freeman was the only remaining defendant in the Crypto Six case, as he decided to take the case to court in order to take his case to a jury.

The charges against Freeman began on March 16, 2021, when US federal agents raided the Shire Free Church in Keene New Hampshire, the Bitcoin Embassy, ​​and the Free Talk Live studio. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) said the defendants knowingly operated the crypto exchange business in violation of federal anti-money laundering laws and regulations.

After jury selection, Freeman’s trial officially began on December 6, 2022. 16 days later, Free Talk Live co-host Mark Edge revealed on Facebook that Freeman had been found guilty. Ian guilty on all counts. unlicensed money transmission, money laundering and tax evasion, Edge said. The trial verdict was also revealed by local news publication The Keen Sentinel.

The Rick Green Sentinels wrote that a federal jury convicted Keene resident Ian Freeman on Thursday of felony charges related to his cryptocurrency business. Green confirmed Edge’s statements that Freeman was convicted of operating an unlicensed money transfer business, money laundering and tax evasion.

The reporter further noted that Freeman has not been arrested and is being remanded to court on April 14, 2023. Green further noted that Freeman’s defense attorney, Mark Sisti, told the court that the government case was based on speculation, innuendo and hunches, but short of evidence.

Some of the members of the Crypto Six case pleaded guilty to a wire fraud charge last April. While Freeman is due in court for sentencing in April, the Free Talk Live co-host can appeal the verdict in the meantime.
