An MPs Twitter account appears to have been hacked after the profile picture was replaced with a picture of Elon Musk.
Gillian Keegans’ Twitter account responded to tweets sharing links for a range of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Dogecoin.
While the Chichester MPs banner remains the same, tweets impersonating Ms Keegan now include links to a website advertising the online currency.
In a tweet responding to YouTuber Mr. Beast, Keegans’ account wrote: Don’t let it get away! It’s going to be awesome !
In another response to Specsavers opticians, those who own the viral cryptocurrency Dogecoin, once backed by new Twitter owner Elon Musk, as a #dogecoin warrior fighting for the future!
The Education Secretaries’ account appears to have been hacked shortly before 7.30pm on Christmas Day when the tweets began to appear.
Tweets promoting the cryptocurrency were sent throughout the evening and into the wee hours of Boxing Day.
The Chichester MPs office has been approached for comment.
