Sam is being held in Fox Hill, awaiting an extradition hearing in the United States until February 8, 2023. Bankman’s legal team initially suggested fighting this, but Sam appears to have reversed the decision. Within 48 hours of SBF’s arrival in the United States, he can apply for bail.

Former Cryptocurrency White Knight Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) appears to have lost the battle with the rodents and maggots inside Fox Hill Jail, where he is being held until extradition hearing scheduled for February 8, 2023. At first, his legal team was going to fight his extradition, but the notorious jail seems to have changed the fate of the SBFs. Sam will no longer challenge the US extradition request.

Sam is due to appear in court in the Bahamas on Monday, where he will reverse his previous decision to challenge his extradition to the United States, where he is set to face charges of deceit, financial crime and more.

Sam Bankman-Fried was indicted in federal court in Manhattan on Tuesday and is accused of deceiving FTX clients, stealing their funds to make investments for his crypto hedge fund Alameda Research LLC.

SBF will now appear in court in the United States, where he will face wire fraud, money laundering and campaign finance charges.

Defense attorney Zachary Margulis-Ohnuma said that if and when Sam should set foot on American soil, he is very likely to be detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

At the time of the first hearing in Manhattan, Sam will be asked to enter a plea, then a judge will make a bail decision. Margulis added that such hearings must take place within 48 hours of Bankman’s arrival, but since this is a sensitive case, it can take place sooner.

Prosecutors can argue that Sam is a flight risk and should remain in custody because a huge amount of money is involved in the case. In addition, the location of the funds is unclear.

White-collar defense attorney Michael Weinstein commented:

“I expect that if the judge grants the provisional release, he would impose very restrictive and onerous conditions.”

Legal experts say any kind of trial is over a year away, citing the intense complexity of the case.

According to some reports, the court offers some relief to the accused; Sam Bankman-Fried could be sentenced to 150 years in prison. However, some experts point to ways Sam can reduce his prison term.

Now that SBF waives extradition

The only bargaining lever available to SBF to avoid life imprisonment

1) offer bigger fish like Tether or @cz_binance

2) plea deal soon (plus hand over over $1 billion in assets) to spare prosecutors work.

Then SBF gets 20 years.

If Sam puts a bigger fish forward against the court, for example, Tether or the CEO of the biggest crypto exchange, if that case comes to fruition, then the court time will be split, and he might get a lesser time.

And if he hands over $1 billion in assets to the court for distribution to investors, it will significantly reduce the efforts of prosecutors.

If these two conditions are met, it is possible that SBF could be sentenced to a 20-year sentence.
