El Salvador Bitcoin Adoption Push Focused on Student Education

[ad_1]

El Salvador is taking new steps to drive mass adoption of Bitcoin by educating students. But the country’s portfolio is down 60%.

Even during extreme crypto winters, El Salvador is focused on mass adoption of Bitcoin. A clip shows the students being educated about Bitcoin in a classroom.

Bitcoin education at a young age could lead to mass adoption and use of crypto instances once students become adult citizens and begin contributing to the nation.

Read, Write, Bitcoin

A viral clip on Twitter shows Salvadoran teachers educating their students on bitcoin as part of a ten-week program. Teachers show students a hands-on demonstration of how to receive Bitcoin through the Lightning Network. Students are also educated on various topics such as nodes, double spends, and bitcoin halvings.

The idea is for this to be replicated in other schools around the world, says an educator.

My First Bitcoin, a bitcoin education project in El Salvador, claimed to educate over 10,000 students in 2022. It plans to increase its reach 25 times and teach 250,000 students in 2023.

El Salvador, Leader in BTC Mass Adoption

After adopting Bitcoin as legal tender last year, the country has made various contributions to mass adoption. President Nayib Bukele announced that the nation was striving to build a Bitcoin City free of income and property taxes in November last year.

Last month, the president launched a special Bitcoin office to handle all cryptocurrency-related projects. It will also serve as a bridge to organize meetings between individuals and the President for the implementation of Bitcoin and blockchain in the country.

The country has been buying one bitcoin a day since Nov. 18 and now holds more than 2,458 bitcoins, according to a website that tracks El Salvador’s wallet. The Central American country is down 61.82% on its Bitcoin holdings, with an unrealized loss of over $67 million.
