Michael Saylor Buys the Bitcoin Dip Again: Here’s How Much BTC MicroStrategy Recovered – MicroStrategy (NASDAQ:MSTR), Bitcoin (BTC/USD)

Software company MicroStrategy IncMSTR, known for being the largest Bitcoin holding company BTC/USD, revealed additional purchases of the digital currency in December.

In a filing with the SEC on Wednesday, MicroStrategy said that between early November and December 21, the company purchased about 2,395 Bitcoins for about $42.8 million in cash.

The company paid an average of $17,871 per token for this cache.

On December 22, MicroStrategy sold 704 Bitcoins for a total of around $11.8 million at a price of $16,776 per coin. The company said the sale was for tax purposes.

In its filing with the SEC, the company said, “MicroStrategy expects to carry forward capital losses resulting from this transaction against prior capital gains, to the extent such carryovers are available under federal tax laws. on the income currently in force, which may generate a tax advantage.

On December 24, MicroStrategy purchased an additional 810 Bitcoin, paying $13.6 million in cash and an average price of around $16,845 per coin.

As of December 27, MicroStrategy held approximately 132,500 Bitcoins, totaling over $4 billion.

The company paid an average of $30,397 for each bitcoin.

Bitcoin was trading at around $16,650 on Wednesday, down more than 60% for the year and on pace with one of its worst annual periods.

Over the past few years, MicroStrategy has earned a reputation for its bitcoin acquisitions, thanks in part to the leadership of its former CEO, Michael Saylor, who is now the company’s executive chairman and responsible for its bitcoin strategy.

Shares of the company were down 3.63% at $142.38 on Wednesday morning, bringing its year-to-date decline to more than 74%.
