“I don’t want to own property anymore,” Tate, who regularly shows off her ultra-luxurious lifestyle on social media, told Pompliano before her arrest. “I don’t trust the Romanian government or the Russian government. If I piss off the government, they’ll just take it. They say you own it until you annoy the government and then you don’t own it. “
Tate previously said he bought $600,000 worth of bitcoin at the height of the Covid-19 stock market crash in March 2020, saying he held it during the recession. However, Tate, who made a name for himself with inflammatory comments about women and masculinity, also claimed without evidence to be “the world’s first billionaire”.
Tate told Pompliano he had been “put on a travel list” and had to do “backflips” for the banks when he tried to buy a $900,000 property in Qatar, saying the money laundering checks were the reason he supported bitcoin.
“I’m going absolutely nuts, Mr. Blockchain, now because it’s the only time I feel like I have control over things,” Tate said, referring to the technology behind the big one. distributed pound of Bitcoin and adding, “with money, you have to deal with inflation” which hit a 40-year high in 2022.
