Software analytics firm MicroStrategy recently added more Bitcoin (BTC) to the firm’s holdings. Members of the crypto community had mixed reactions to the move.

In a recent tweet, MicroStrategys Executive Chairman Michael Saylor announced that the company has made another Bitcoin purchase. The move brings the company’s total BTC holdings to 132,500 BTC, purchased for a total of $4.03 billion but only worth around $2.1 billion at the time of writing. Many welcomed the move, while some pointed to some potential negative effects.

Michael Saylor, you are a rock star. Your mission Jim aka Michael Saylor, if you accept it, is to bank the unbanked across the world.

A community member praised the president of MicroStrategy, calling him a rock star whose mission is to fund the unbanked. Others celebrated the new development by pledging to join in and buy more Bitcoin themselves.

However, not everyone is too enthusiastic about the company’s crypto purchases. Some believe this new action could potentially trigger a new price floor for the top digital asset.

In a Twitter chat, Bitcoin analysts Willy Woo and Dan Held shared their thoughts on buying MicroStrategys. According to Woo, Bitcoiners shouldn’t be happy when the company adds more BTC to its holdings. The analyst argued that MicroStrategy hoarding more Bitcoin poses centralization risks because the company’s decision-making is centralized. Moreover, Woo suggested that it is better to celebrate the adoption by ordinary people.

In a counter argument, Held said there would be no risk of centralization because ownership does not equal control of the network. The analyst pointed out that there is no way to control who buys Bitcoin and that people or companies can buy as much BTC as they want.
