UK seeks crypto crime fighter willing to accept $50,000 salary

The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) is taking steps to focus more on cryptocurrency crimes and fight criminals.

The NCA’s cybercrime-focused command, the National Cyber ​​Crime Unit (NCCU), is launching a dedicated cryptocurrency unit to investigate cyber incidents in the UK involving the use of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC).

Called NCCU Crypto Cell, the crypto-focused unit will initially contain five agents dedicated to proactive cryptocurrency shipments.

As part of the project, NCA is looking to hire a cryptocurrency investigator with good knowledge of crypto and solid experience in conducting forensic investigations into serious and organized crime.

The future NCA crypto crime fighter will be expected to provide strategic and tactical advice to investigators in handling cases involving crypto, supporting existing and new investigations. The position requires experience in seed phrase identification and recovery as well as advanced tracing via blockchains.

The position offers an annual salary of between £40,200 ($48,200) and £43,705 ($52,400). Applicants are encouraged to apply before Jan. ten.

The ANC decision aims to increase regulatory attention on crypto assets in the UK as governments call for the elimination of dirty money in the country. In September, the UK government introduced a bill aimed at combating money laundering and fraud, including expanding the ability of authorities to seize crypto used for illicit purposes.

According to National Police Chiefs Council Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Gould, all police forces in the UK have been training their officers for investigations involving the seizure and application of crypto from October.
