[ad_1]

Another year in the crypto space is almost over. As usual, Twitter has been a hotbed of crypto-related conversations over this turbulent year. From the collapse of Terras and the whole situation with FTX to Elon Musks’ takeover of Twitter, 2022 has played out like a TV drama, keeping people on the edge of their seats.

Tweets can act as time capsules from the past, offering memories or documenting particular historical points.

Here are 10 memorable tweets from 2022.

The Collapse of Terra

The crypto space has suffered several blows this year, and among them was the collapse of the Terra project. Terra started 2022 as a widespread project in the crypto industry, with its LUNA asset appearing in the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization at the start of the year.

In May, however, the project collapsed, fueled by the fact that its related stablecoin, TerraUSD (UST), completely lost its peg to the US dollar. Although the year has included many tweets related to the show, the one below from the project manager documents part of the series of events.

4/ Review of the current situation: the UST is currently trading at 50 cents, a significant deviation from its expected anchor at $1.

Do Kwon (@stablekwon) May 11, 2022 New Twitter owner focused on Dogecoin

Tesla CEO Musk has dabbled in the crypto space at times, frequently expressing interest in Dogecoin (DOGE). In October, he bought Twitter, named himself CEO, and made significant changes to the company. Crypto exchange Binance has invested in Musks Twitter, paying $500 million to the social media giant.

Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 28, 2022 Three Arrows Capital falls

Another major company that went bankrupt was Three Arrows Capital, or 3AC. Once a multi-billion dollar hedge fund, 3AC filed for bankruptcy in July, apparently affected in part by the fall of Terra.

Over the year, contagion has become a major factor in the crypto space. When a company has caused a stir in a negative way, the ripple effects have often been felt by other players.

We are communicating with the affected parties and are fully committed to resolving this issue.

FTX, another major player in the crypto space, also collapsed in 2022. Led by former CEO Sam SBF Bankman-Fried, the crypto exchange found itself in a position where it didn’t have enough funds to pay those he owed.

With details surfacing after the collapse, such as sister entity Alameda Research mismanaging the funds, FTX-related headlines dominated the latter part of the year, including the company’s bankruptcy filing. in November and the multiple US government hearings related to the exchange. At the request of the US government, SBF was arrested by Bahamian authorities in December.

3) I saw myself as a model CEO, who would not become lazy or disconnected.

Which made it even more destructive when I did.

I am sorry. I hope people can learn from the difference between who I was and who I could have been.

SBF (@SBF_FTX) December 9, 2022 The Ethereum merger

Ethereum officially made its long-awaited transition to a proof-of-stake blockchain in September, ending the proof-of-work consensus on one of the most popular blockchains. Ethereum co-creator Vitalik Buterin tweeted on September 15 that the event was over.

Following the merger, the Ethereum blockchain showed improvements related to block production, requiring less time for block verification and seeing an increase in the number of blocks produced each day. The next major Ethereum blockchain update, Shanghai, is expected to take place in 2023 and will unlock Ether (ETH) staked on the Beacon Chain.

And we are done!

Happy merging everyone. This is a great moment for the Ethereum ecosystem. Everyone who helped make the merger happen should be very proud today.

The last five tweets on this list focus not so much on major events as on points of interest related to the crypto space, highlighted in tweet form. This one from US Senator Cynthia Lummis sheds light on crypto regulation, an increasingly popular topic in the industry this year.

Require open source developers to integrate AML/KYC into node software and hardware wallets? This dog will not hunt.

Cynthia Lummis (@CynthiaMLummis) December 14, 2022 Bitcoin price issues

Bitcoin (BTC) has had a rough year, dropping from nearly $50,000 to under $20,000, according to the Cointelegraphs BTC Price Index. Although gold advocate Peter Schiff has historically been critical of Bitcoin, the prices he mentioned in a January 20 tweet don’t seem illogical in hindsight. But will the Bitcoin price continue to fall even further, or is the worst already over? The answer will probably come in 2023.

#Bitcoin finally broke the cleavage of an off-the-shoulder top. The scary part for longs is that the pattern is projecting a move below $30,000. Once this level is crossed, Bitcoin will have completed a massive double top. From there, a crash below $10,000 is very likely.

Peter Schiff (@PeterSchiff) January 21, 2022 A sign of mainstream attention to cryptos

In March, before most years of decline, National Football League star Tom Brady tweeted about his admiration for Buterin, a sign of crypto attention and growth.

What’s up Vitalik! You may not know me but I just wanted to say that I’m a huge fan of yours. thank you for everything you have built in the world of crypto, otherwise @Autograph wouldn’t have been possible. I hope I can meet you one day, you are the https://t.co/W6PxS5P78M

Tom Brady (@TomBrady) March 19, 2022 Still a Bitcoin supporter

MicroStrategys co-founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor was the face of the company’s bitcoin acquisition activities, which resulted in MicroStrategy holding over 100,000 BTC. Since becoming bullish on the asset, Saylor has often spoken positively about Bitcoin. The events of 2022 apparently haven’t deterred him from cryptocurrency, based on the December tweet below.

Trust #Bitcoin, not people.

Michael Saylor (@saylor) December 9, 2022 A simple tweet from a native of the industry

Since its inception, the crypto industry has sometimes felt like a roller coaster of ups and downs. Anthony Pompliano, a well-known figure in the crypto space, tweeted out a ray of positivity at the end of the year to top off the list on a high note.

Bear markets eventually come to an end, but they can last longer than you think.

If you talk to someone who has been there for several cycles, they will tell you that now is the time to focus, build and learn.
