The American multinational investment management company BlackRock has reportedly incorporated Bitcoin (BTC) into its Global Allocation Fund, which is the world’s largest digital currency by market capitalization. With an astonishing $10 trillion in assets under management (AUM) in January 2022, the move to add BTC to its fund is seen as a very optimistic step forward for the crypto industry.

Bitcoin has had a remarkable journey since its inception fourteen years ago and is now attracting the attention of top institutional investors. The surge in Wall Street interest can be attributed to MicroStrategy Incorporated, which owns over 132,500 Bitcoin units. BlackRock has taken key steps to secure a presence in this new asset class and sector.
Blackrock could collect all Bitcoins
Blackrock partnered with Coinbase Global Inc last August to offer institutional investors a safe passage to invest in Bitcoin. The establishment took a few more steps and created the Bitcoin Private Trust after the partnership with Coinbase Global Inc. However, the Trust is created explicitly for its elite clientele, who expect a lot from their investments.
By integrating Bitcoin into its Global Allocation Fund, BlackRock can create revolutionary change in the market. With its current assets, this company only needs 0.32% to acquire every bitcoin available on the exchanges. This could be an unprecedented opportunity for BlackRock and a major disruption to traditional investment strategies.
Crypto analyst Wolf of Alts Street recently estimated that a total of 1.85 million Bitcoin currently sits on centralized exchanges (CEX) with an estimated aggregate value of around $31.1 billion, thanks to the current BTC price of around $16,000. Through their assessment, it was concluded that this figure represents 0.32% of all ten trillion dollars held by BlackRock, which equates to approximately $32 billion.
A Bullish Outlook on Bitcoin
After a long crypto winter, the industry is finally getting a spark of hope thanks to BlackRocks’ announcement to add Bitcoin to its global allocation fund. However, this could be one of the most bullish events the cryptocurrency market has seen in recent years and marks an important milestone for this booming industry.
BlackRocks’ investments in Bitcoin will be deliberate and calculated, but they will certainly have an immense impact on the price appreciation of the coins.
In the coming months, we could see billions of dollars pouring into the market as other top investment firms join BlackRock in their bullish outlook on Bitcoin. Also, it could be a catalyst for BTC to surge, and an indirect beneficial effect could trickle down to altcoins.
