Trump’s NFT Prize Collection Goes Auctioned on Opensea’s NFT Market
Former United States President Donald Trump recently sold a collection of non-fungible token (NFT) cards that sold out on the first day of its launch. The NFT collection caused a stir among pundits on the left side of the political spectrum. At the sale, NFT owners had the chance to win special Trump-related prizes, including a round of golf with the former president, a one-on-one Zoom call and an invitation to a gala dinner. with Trump in Florida.
NFT prizes that serve as tickets to Trump-themed giveaways, like going to a gala dinner with the former president or attending a Zoom group call with Trump, surfaced on Opensea on January 12, 2023. sales are low for the Trump collection compared to other collections, as it represents only 0.18% of non-fungible token sales recorded as of January 12, 2023.
These prizes were minted as NFTs on the Polygon blockchain, just like the trading card game. They are now seeing secondary sales on Opensea, the top NFT marketplace by sales volume. As of 3:00 p.m. EST on January 12, 2023, the “Win Trump Prizes” collection on Opensea recorded 38 ethereum (ETH), or approximately $53,000 in sales, over the past 24 hours.
At the time of writing, the Win Trump Prizes collection has a floor value of around 0.0219 ETH. One particular post, called “Group Zoom Event with Pres. “Trump,” sells for 0.0466 ETH or $66.43 for the NFT note. Trump’s NFT price sales currently rank 48th in terms of NFT collection sales over the past day. It topped the Rarepass NFT Collection, which fetched $52,458 today, and is lower than the Rektguy NFT Collection’s sales of $54,444 in the past 24 hours.
The Win Trump Prizes NFT collection, however, did better in 24-hour sales than collections such as Cool Cats, Zed Run, Solana Monkey Business and World of Women on January 12. Sales of the Win Trump Prizes collection are lackluster and they represent just 0.18% of the $29.77 million in NFT sales on Thursday. Trump’s original trading card NFTs saw sales of $20,701 on Jan. 12, down 44.90% from the previous day.
