Gensler will step down and stand trial to make a decision, crypto attorney predicts

Ripple, SEC and FTXWell, which rapidly degenerated

Crypto lawyer and pro-XRP activist John Deaton shared a number of predictions for the year 2023. The lawyer’s predictions were, as expected, in the legal realm, but interestingly, one of them happened almost instantly. Let’s take them in order.

Ripple, SEC and FTX

First, Deaton expressed his opinion that the lawsuit between Ripple and the US Securities Commission will end with a decision by a judge. This view has upset the XRP community, a large percentage of which are hoping for a settlement or summary judgment to resolve the proceedings.

However, Deaton went on to clarify that a settlement is also possible after a decision has been made directly by the judge, eliminating the possibility of a later appeal or the case going to a jury trial.

The lawyer’s other two predictions directly concerned the Securities Commission. Thus, Deaton predicts that the investigation into Sam Bankman-Fried, the head of the infamous exchange FTX, will uncover a number of “dirty” details regarding his meetings with senior SEC officials. As a result, the attorney expects current SEC chief Gary Gensler to step down before the end of 2023.

Well it quickly escalated

A self-fulfilling prophecy, however, was the second of Deaton’s four predictions. Predicting lawsuits against cryptocurrency exchanges for selling cryptocurrencies that are unregistered securities, Deaton could hardly have imagined when this would happen. This morning, the SEC filed suit against the Gemini exchange and the Genesis crypto broker for these violations alone.
