deVere CEO says WEF needs to focus on crypto rules

[ad_1]

The CEO of financial management company deVere Group, Nigel Green, has warned that the World Economic Forum (WEF), a major global lobbying organization, is likely to fail if it does not focus on cryptocurrency regulation.

Nigel Green says the World Economic Forum will “fail spectacularly” if the 2023 Davos summit agenda item on crypto regulation is not addressed.

As well as challenging the participants, the DeVere boss stressed that now was the time to act rather than “talk” and urged them to pressure their respective governments to prioritize regulations on the cryptocurrencies.

Greens call for crypto regulation

Notably, Green, a strong supporter of cryptocurrencies and an advocate for regulation, pointed out that several industry-related events made the laws necessary. He highlighted the need to adopt the relevant rules due to the increasing use of digital assets by institutions.

According to Nigel Green, there are currently many individual and institutional investors such as community trusts, pension funds, hedge funds, investment funds, and mutual funds that have a deep interest in cryptocurrencies.

He added that regulations are now needed to protect investors in light of recent high-profile bankruptcies and cases of fraud in the industry. Recall that in 2019, Nigel Green urged the European Union to seriously consider large-scale adoption of cryptocurrency.

Speaking behind closed doors with Maltese government officials at the 2019 Delta Summit in Malta, Green blasted the EU’s reluctance to encourage the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies.

He urged the EU to embrace cryptocurrencies as soon as possible or risk falling behind a forward-thinking China, which was preparing to introduce a yuan-pegged stablecoin.

Green sees huge potential in cryptocurrencies

The deVere founder believes that if cryptocurrencies operate in a formal setting, the sector will benefit the economies of various countries.

He also highlighted the importance of developing crypto regulations from an international perspective and noted that the bulls are likely to prevail in the long run despite the fact that digital assets are here to stay.

Its projections coincide with the current mini-rally the crypto is experiencing, which saw it briefly reach a spot price of $21,000 over time.
