Cryptocurrency is the second most owned asset class by women after cash, according to a report by Etoro who surveyed 10,000 retail investors in 13 countries.

The number of female crypto owners increased from 29% in Q3 to 34% in Q4, while male owners increased from 42% to 43%, according to Etoros Q4 Retail Investor Beat.
Crypto is now the second most widely held asset class by women after cash, suggesting it is succeeding where traditional financial markets have sometimes failed to bring more women to the table, says the report.
The number of retail investors holding cryptos rose from 36% to 39% quarter over quarter, even as cryptos were the worst performing asset class last year.
Some 37% of retail investors surveyed hold cryptocurrencies for high returns, while 34% invest in digital assets for the power of blockchain, the underlying technology of cryptocurrencies.
Retail investors holding crypto aged 35-44 and 45-54 also rose 5% each, suggesting that older retail investors were buying the drop.
Asked about the effect of the bear market on their investment outlook, 67% of survey respondents were positive or ambivalent, while only 33% said their investment outlook was negatively affected.
